I chose New Zealand because it is a great country, the people are welcoming, and there is an easy naturalization process

WHAT IS APPEALING OF NEW ZEALAND?

  • Te Ika-a-Māui: South Island: largest landmass
  • Lake Gunn
  • Emerald Lakes

WHY WOULD YOU GO?

  • Culture is amazing
  • People are friendly and welcoming
  • They enjoy meeting people from other countries
  • They speak English and Māori
  • English is their main language, so it would be less difficult to adjust

CULTURE

  • Very unique
  • People involve themselves in keeping the culture alive
  • Meet and greet by touching each others noses to show spiritual connection

This is North Island of New Zealand. The North Island is known for its volcanic activity, national parks, and cosmopolitan cities. The country's largest city is also here, Auckland.

SCHOOL SYSTEMS

  • 3 levels:
  • Early childhood education- from birth to school entry age
  • Primary and secondary- 5 to19 years old
  • Further education- higher and vocational education

SCHOOL TERMS

  • 4 terms
  • Term 1: Late January to early-April - Two week break Term 2: Mid April to early July - Two week break Term 3: Mid July to late September - Two week break Term 4: Mid October to mid-December - Six week summer holiday

SAFE PLACE TO LIVE

  • New Zealand has a low-crime rate
  • Few-endemic diseases
  • Great health-care systems
  • To keep safe, you have to drive on the left-hand side of the road
  • It is illegal to have a phone out while driving

  • Bay of Islands- known for its undeveloped beaches, big-game fishing
  • Tongariro National Park- oldest national park in New Zealand
  • Lake Wanaka- New Zealand's fourth largest lake
  • Mount Aspiring National Park- glaciers, peaks, and rich birdlife

  • Democratic government
  • The term government refers chiefly to the executive branch
  • The Executive branch is exercised by Prime Minister and Cabniet members
  • Queen of New Zealand is head of state, but plays little part in governing the government

NATURALIZATION PROCESS

  • Must meet good character
  • If your born into the country
  • If a relative is in the country already, so you could live with them
  • By grant and you have to take an oath allegiance to the country

  • Distance from other countries
  • Powerful sun
  • Houses are expensive, renting an apartment could take your whole salary
