Newspapers were written on metal or stone
Then posted in places like the Roman Forum
Appeared around 131 BC
They were also known as Acta Diurna or "daily acts"

Contribute to public discourse through official texts detailing things going on
Details such as Roman military victories,
games and gladiatorial bouts,
and birth and death notices

MORE ON HOW THEY WERE USED
Details of the Roman Senate were found in an Acta Senatus
Julius Caesar ordered them to be published as part of many populist reforms
He instituted this during his first consulship

It helped by letting everybody know the happenings in Rome
