  • written languages: Zunda and Tekela
  • Zunda: Zulu (southern) and Xhosa (northern)
  • Tekela: Swasi, Northern Transvaal Ndebele, and Bhaca
  • Uses click sounds when they talk

LIFESTYLE

  • Traditionally nomadic farmers herders
  • Homesteads consisted of a lot of family
  • Clan members are decended from same ancestor
  • Beehive huts and plastered (cow dung) cone huts
  • Possession of cattle is a social status

TRANSPORTATION

  • Rode animals
  • Sometimes are seen on foot
  • Women sometimes carry things on their heads

LAND

  • Belonged to the whole clan
  • Grew Sorghum, maize, pumpkins, gourds, beans, sweet potatoes and beans

  • Cotton, woll, and sometimes leather
  • Women wore beaded apron and a skirt
  • Men worn aprons and kilt of animal tails
