The Nicene Creed is a Symbol of faith widely used in Christian liturgy
It is called Nicene because it was originally adopted in the city of Nicaea (present day Turkey) by the First Council of Nicaea

The vertical aspect of the Church is where God comes to us as Jesus Christ but is mediated in the human nature as of the one Divine Person of the Blessed Trinity
Jesus directs us to God the Father through his ministry to us as one divine being, with two natures, human and divine

Jesus shows us a horizontal aspect of the Church through our interactions with the people around us in our everyday lives
We also see horizontal aspects of the church through the mass and other official prayers of the Church

"We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, born of the father before all women, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with eh father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontus Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end."
