  • His father died when he was 18
  • 8 years later he died of tuberculosis

LIFE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Even though he died young he still made a big impact
  • For example at age 16 he proved Binomial theorem for all valid numbers
  • Extending Eulers result which only worked with rational numbers
  • At 19 he showed that there is no general algebraic solution to
  • Quintic equations or any general equations higher than 4

LIFE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • To prove quintic equations he invented a new
  • Branch of math called group theory
  • Which is very important in math and physics
  • He was offered to be a professor in Berlin
  • But sadly died before he got the letter

RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND

  • His father was a very important politician in Norway
  • And he was supposed to minister at Gjerstad
  • But it seems that he did not share his fathers views

  • We're not directly influenced by religion
  • But his teacher Bernt Holmboe taught him at the Christiana Catholic School
  • Because Holmboe he began to study at a higher levels of Mathamatics
  • Resulting in his studies in elliptic functions

AUGUSTUS CRELLE

  • He was a civil engineer and self taught Mathmatition
  • He was a mentor for Abel and was the one to invite him to Berlin University
  • He wrote "Journal for pure and applied mathamatics" also known as Crelles Journal
  • Crelle also elaborated on Abel's work on Quintic equations
  • Other things like equation theory, calculus, and theoretical equations were in his journal
