DEFINITION BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLE

  • the series of processes by which nitrogen and its compounds are interconverted in the environment and in living organisms, including nitrogen fixation and decomposition.
  • the flow of chemical elements between living organisms and the environment.

Biogeochemical cycle

  • the biogeochemical cycle can be seen in the transfer through water cycle
  • ocean or lake water evaporates and becomes clouds
  • clouds become dense with evaporated water and causes rain
  • water from rain or melting snow finds its way back to the ocean or lakes
  • vater evaporates and the cycle begins again

NITROGEN CYCLE

  • Animals produce organic matter. (fertilizer)
  • The matter decomposes and forms into a source of energy.
  • Plants use that matter also and turn it into energy for other animals. (food)
This is the definition of biogeochemical cycle

FIVE FACTS ABOUT NITROGEN

  • Nitrogen is an element is an element you encounter every day.
  • Nitrogen is a nonmetal.
  • Nitrogen is found in food, fertilizer, poisons, and explosives.
  • Nitrogen is odorless, tasteless, and colorless.
  • Nitrogen gas makes up 78.1% of the volume of the air.

OBSERVING BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLE

  • Use fertilizer to grow a plants.
  • Observe decomposing matter.
  • Observe herbivores.
