- Nixon refuses and begins firing those standing in his way
- On a separate note: VP Spiro Agnew resigns - took bribes as Gov. of Maryland (Ford becomes new VP)

Ford was a college football player for the Michigan Wolverines. Was known for being a klutz. Once stumbled coming off the steps of Air Force One.

- Stagflation: High Inflation (18%) + High Unemployment (8%)

- Failures: SALT II - fails to get Senate approval; Iran takes 52 Embassy officials hostage for 444 days; boycotts 1980 Olympics in Moscow
- Loses 1980 Election to Ronald Reagan
Carter eventually wins the Nobel Peace Prize, primarily for his humanitarian and philanthropic work with Habitat for Humanity.
