Noble Gases

Untitled Slide

  • Hellium
  • Neon
  • Argon
  • Krypton
  • Xenon

Untitled Slide

  • They are extremly rare in nature
  • These gases were discovered in the last five years of the 1800s
  • The element Helium comes from the Greek word hellos , used to refer to the sun

Untitled Slide

  • Argon is used in common light bulbs
  • Helium is used in most balloons
  • Krypton and Xenon are used in photograghic flash units

Helium's atomic number and mass is two and four. Helium is a non metal. Helium is not very dense , its even less dense than air.

  • Helium is commonly used in balloons whether its party balloons or science balloons
  • liquid helium is used to create superconductive magnets
  • helium is also used to clear rocket engines

  • Helium is the second most common element in the Universe (after hydrogen)
  • Has a low boiling point
  • The USA is the world's largest supplier of helium
