OUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, GESTURES, EYE CONTACT, POSTURE, AND TONE OF VOICE ARE THE ONES THAT SPEAK THE LOUDEST

WHY IT MATTERS

  • The way you listen, look, move, and react tells the other person whether or not you care how well you’re listening
  • When your nonverbal signals match up with the words you’re saying, they increase trust, clarity, etc

Types of nonverbal communication

  • Facial Expressions
  • Posture/ Body Movement
  • Gestures
  • Eye Contact

Facial Expressions

The human face is extremely expressive, able to express countless emotions without saying a word. facial expressions are universal. The facial expressions for happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear, and disgust are the same across cultures.

Posture/Body Movement

The way you move and carry yourself communicates a wealth of information to the world. This type of nonverbal communication includes your posture, bearing, stance, and subtle movements.

Gestures

We wave, point, and use our hands when we’re arguing or speaking animatedly—expressing ourselves with gestures often without thinking

Eye contact

People often attribute trustworthiness to people who speak while maintaining good eye contact and vice versa. Eye contact is also used to convey interest and emotions,

in order to reciprocate communication with other people, one has to be able to convey their message in someway. whether that's spoken or unspoken

Nurture

this could be dependent on cultural differences or just the environment one grew up in. just depends
