• Lincoln also appointed people to be the generals.

• Robert E. Lee
• One of the souths greatest generals.
• One downfall, was that he realized that the north was more powerful.
• As a result of the things he found. He surrendered to the north.

NORTH LAWS PASSED

• 13th amendment
• Put an end to slavery and freed all slaves
• It was said "all slaves held and owned must be set free".

SOUTHERN LAWS PASSED

• "Black codes"
• The end of the Civil War marked the end of slavery for 4 million
• Black southerners!
• With the end of slavery it left them landless and with little money.
