DENSE DECIDUOUS & CONIFER FORESTS IN PLACES LIKE CANADA & THE U.S

DIET

CONSISTS MAINLY OF NUTS, FUNGI, & LICHENS, AS WELL AS INSECTS

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

INTERESTING FACTS

  • The mating seasons are March to May
  • They can travel between 3 & 45 meters in a single glide
  • Individuals sometimes share nests with each other for warmth

ADAPTATIONS

  • They have flaps of skin from their front to rear feet that allow them to glide
  • During extremely cold winters, they grow tufts of fur between their toe & heel pads
  • Their tail acts like a rudder to help it steer when it's gliding
