It seems the only way to
gain attention today is
to organize a march
and protest something.

Billy Graham, Jr. (1918-) is an American evangelist, ordained as a Southern Baptist minister, who rose to celebrity status reaching a core constituency of white, middle-class, moderately conservative Protestants. He held large indoor and outdoor crusades, and his sermons were broadcast on radio and television, and are still being rebroadcast today.

Graham was a spiritual adviser to several Presidents, being particularly close to Dwight D. Eisenhower; Lyndon Johnson, one of his closest friends; and Richard Nixon.

To sin by silence when
they should protest
makes cowards of men.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850 – 1919) was an American author and poet. Her most enduring work was "The Way Of The World", which contains the lines: "Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone."

Well, you wonder why I always dress
in black,
Why you never see bright colors
on my back,
And why does my appearance
seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for
the things that I have on.

Johnny Cash (1932 – 2003) was a singer-songwriter, actor, and author, widely considered one of the most influential American musicians of the 20th century. Although primarily remembered as a country music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel.

Cash was known for his deep bass-baritone voice, distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, free prison concerts, and trademark look, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black."

Sometimes it's appropriate
to scream at them.

Helen Mary Caldicott (1938 - ) is an Australian physician, author, and anti-nuclear advocate who has founded several associations dedicated to opposing the use of nuclear power, depleted uranium munitions, nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons proliferation, war and military action in general.

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Crosby, Stills & Nash (1968-), a folk rock supergroup made up of David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young when joined by occasional fourth member Neil Young. They are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies, political activism, and lasting influence on American music and culture.

Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret

"The Ballad of the Green Berets" is a patriotic song about the Green Berets, an elite special force in the U.S. Army. It is one of the few songs of the 1960s to cast the military in a positive light and in 1966 it became a major hit and a crossover smash, reaching No. 1. for five weeks on the Hot 100 and four weeks on Cashbox.

The song was written by Robin Moore and Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler, while the latter was recuperating from a leg wound suffered as a medic in the Vietnam War. The lyrics were written in honor of Green Beret James Gabriel, Jr., the first native Hawaiian to die in Vietnam, executed by the Viet Cong while on a training mission on April 8, 1962.

I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.

Each family of the United States military now attends to their loved ones funeral with a wrenching worry that it will be met with a protest.

You can't cheer when political officials punish the expression of views you dislike ...

and expect to be taken seriously when you wrap yourself in the banner
of free speech.

The duty of youth is
to challenge corruption.

Anti-war protest is just a placebo. The peacemakers feel gallant but do not achieve anything perceptible.

Say what you want but never say it with violence!

We all want to change the world . But when you talk about destruction, don't you know you can count me out.

When an individual is protesting society's refusal to acknowledge
his dignity as a human being,
his protest confers dignity on him.

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice ...

but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.
