  • A person, place, thing, or idea
  • EX: Mrs. Robinson, pizza, White House,
  • anger, generosity, Sami.

PROPER NOUNS

  • A word or group of words that is the name of
  • a particular person, place, or thing that begins
  • with a capital letter.
  • EX: Johnny Depp, George Washington, Grand Canyon

COMMON NOUS

  • A word that refers to a person, place, or thing,
  • but that is not that name of a particular person,
  • place, or thing.
  • EX: student, school, car, food, bus, teacher.

ABSTRACT NOUNS

  • It names something that can't be recognized
  • through senses.
  • EX: affection, hope, joy, depression, strength.

CONCRETE NOUNS

  • Names something that can be recognized
  • through any of the five senses.
  • EX: house, carpet, street, shoe, show

NONCOUNT NOUNS

  • Non- count nouns names things that
  • can't be counted.
  • EX: thunder, rice, milk, glasses, grass

COUNT NOUNS

  • Names things that can be counted.
  • EX: an ipad, a computer, a binder, a book

COLLECTIVE NOUNS

  • A collective noun names a group of people, animals,
  • or things.
  • EX: herd, commitee, pack, pod

SINGULAR NOUNS

  • When a noun means one only, it
  • is said to be singular.
  • EX: box, shoe, book, earring.

PLURAL NOUNS

  • When a noun means more than one,
  • it is said to be plural.

  • A word expressing possesion of a thing.
