REASONS FOR CHOOSING NUCLEAR POWER

  • Never seen a nuclear plant before
  • Want to know how it works
  • Dont know anything about it
  • They are not in Australia

POSITIVES OF NUCLEAR POWER

  • Lower green house gas emission as nuclear plants do not emit as many dangerous gases
  • When a nuclear reaction occurs it creates a giant amount of energy
  • Reliable as power plants dont shut down unless they need maintenance
  • More powerful than fossil fuel as 30g of uranium puts out the same amount of energy as 100 tonnes of coal
  • Creates very cheap energy

DISADVANTAGES OF NUCLEAR ENERGY

  • Even though its very unlikely nuclear accidents can occour, they can be fatal
  • The waste that is the outcome of creating energy is extremly dangerous
  • Nuclear Radiation can have major side effects
  • Can cause birth defcts if working at a power plant
  • Uranium which creates the energy is very scarce and is not in every country

Places That Use Nuclear Power:

America, France, Japan, Russia, China, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, India, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Finland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Brazil, South Africa, Slovakia, Argentina, Mexico, Iran, Pakistan, Slovenia, Netherlands and Armenia

Nuclear power in the future

By 2040 nuclear power should become much more mainstream meaning that it will begin to appear much more around the world. But it still doesn't mean that they will be everywhere as it takes 30 years to make a single plant.
