• The Rosen's thought they would be safe but were forced to leave their home due to their faith
• The Johansen's had to decide if they were willing to risk their lives for the sake of their friends
• All the people of Denmark, were left questioning what the soldiers were doing in their country and what their next move would be

Franklin D. Roosevelt: wanted to stay neutral in the war as long as he could, worked through the Great Depression, supplied Great Britain with materials, joined the war after Pearl Harbor in 1941

• The Rosen's are holding onto hope. It is 1943 and they are working to flee to Sweden
• People like Peter and Lise, holding onto hope, were willing to die for their family members
• The war would not go on forever...
