Essential Question:
What components belong in my introduction paragraph?

There are three parts:

  • Hook
  • Background information
  • Thesis Statement

Step 1: Write the hook
Make your audience want to keep reading your paper.

  • Interesting facts
  • Statistic
  • Anecdote
  • Definition
  • Quote from an expert

Step 2: Background information

  • Give 3-5 sentences giving background information on your topic. Build up knowledge for your reader.

Step 3: Thesis Statement.
This is the most important piece.

  • So what statement. Tell your reader why this is important to consider.
