What is OCD?
OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Someone with OCD would experience excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions.) It is closely related to fear and anxiety.

What Category is OCD?
- OCD is an anxiety disorder because it causes people to be driven by fears.
- It has a large impact on one's behavior.

What Are the Symptoms of OCD?
- Repeated thoughts about many different things, such as fear of germs, dirt, or intruders; acts of violence; or being overly tidy.
- Repetitively performing the same ritual, and having trouble stopping themselves.

Are There Any Treatments?
- Psychotherapy, medication, or both.
- Doctors are currently researching how OCD might be related to stress and environment.

Additional Information:
- OCD affects about 2.2 million American adults, with a roughly equal ratio of men to women.
- About 2.3% of 18-54 year olds suffer from OCD, which out ranks bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and panic attacks.
