OCD RISK FACTORS
- Family History- if anyone in your family has had OCD you are at risk
- Stressful Situations- such as tramatic events
- Creating a habit of perfecting certain things,
OCD SIGNS
- Obsession of unwanted things, repeating ideas of impluses that can
- be scary or disgusting, feeling you have to be perfect.
- implusive- having rituals that you perform when you want the
- obsessions to go away.
- haveing fears such as germs or having paranoia of certain doubts
SYMPTOMS
- They do not get lasting relief from their anxiety
- but they get temporary relief
- other anxiety disorders can be evident such as depression.
- The thought they might make sense.
- Thinking you might harm others or losing control of yourself
DIAGNOSIS
- a psychiatric assesment
- Lab Work
- Physical exam
- CAN EFFECT EVERYDAY LIFE
TREATMENT
- Treatment will reduce the complusions and the obsessions but never will
- never go away.
- Medications such as Serotonin
- behavioral therapy
- Exposure and Response Prevention
