ODE COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD OIDE-TO SING OR CHANT

Ode- A long lyric poem, trying to make you think, they have strong expression, lastly serious and dignified in subject, tone, and style . An ode has three major parts: strophe, antistrophe, and epode.
Three types of odes: Pindaric,Horatian, irregular

Three major parts of an ode :
Strophe- a rhythmic system of two or more lines repeated as a unit.
Antistrophe- the repetition of a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses
Epode- a lyric poem in which a long verse is followed by a shorter one.

Three types of odes: Pindaric- performed with dancers and chorus. Horatian- calmer and less formal than Pindaric ode. Irregular-has elements of an ode but has freedom to experiment
