MAJOR CHARACHTERS

ANOTHER MAJOR CHARACTER IN THE STORY IS TELEMACHUS. Son of Odysseus.

EPIC POETRY TRAIT

  • Epithets- Eumaeus, the Swineherd. Philoetius, the Cowherd
  • Patronymic- "Telemachus, true son of King Odysseus."
  • Traits- Odysseus is able to pull bow back and shoot through axes.
  • Invocation to the Muse- " Father Zues, grant our old wish"
  • Epic simile- "satisfied by the great bows look and heft, like a musician, like a harper."

EVENTS

  • Odysseus is disguised as a beggar in Ithaca
  • His wife holds a challenge for men to marry her
  • None of the men can succeed
  • Odysseus comes out and completes the challenge.
  • He shows his true identity to his people.
