PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Cicones
Odysseus and his men came to this island to gather supplies.
Lotus Eaters
They were here to get food but when the men ate the lotus flower they didn't want to leave.
Cyclops
Ody goes to this land out of curiosity. Some of his men are killed by the cyclops but ody saves the day by blinding the cyclops and tying his men to sheep to escape the cave.
Island of Aeolus
Aeolus, the god of winds, gives Odysseus a bag of bad winds to help him get home safely. His crew disobeys orders and opens the bag.
Laestrygonians
There were huge cannibals. Every ship but Odysseus's ship was destroyed and men killed. Ody and his crew survived and sailed onward.
Island of Circe
Ody gets Circe to free his men and resists her sorcery. Ody stays with Circe for a while but finally they beg her to help them return home.
The Land of the Dead
Odysseus comes here to learn about his destiny. He gets information about it from Teiresias.
Circe's Island
Receives warning about three obstacles he is about to face.
Sirens
Ody and his men have to pass through the sirens, Circe warned him about them and gave certain instructions. Odys men's ears are filled with wax and he is tied to a pole to keep from going anywhere.
Scylla and Charybdis
Scylla is on one side of the ocean and Charybdis is on the other. Ody is instructed to go to Scylla there six of his men are captured and killed but the rest survive and pass on through.
Sun God (Helios)
Ody's men ate the Sun Gods cattle so he sinks there ship. Everyone but Odysseus dies.
Calypso's Island
He stopped to rest and was held there for 7 years. Finally Zeus made Calypso let him go home.
The Land of the Phaecians
Here Odysseus reveals his identity and tells about his journeys.
