PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1st Cicones
Odysseus's men go and raid the town looking for supplies. The Cicones army attacks their men. They put up a good battle but Odysseus and his men luckily get away safely.
2nd Lotus Eaters
Odysseus travels to the island of the lotus eaters. His men eat the lotus plant which makes them lose the desire to get home. Odysseus has to strap them down on the ship and leave.
3rd Cyclops
Odysseus goes to the land of the cyclops and gets trapped inside of Polyphemus's cave. He stabs the cyclops's eye while he is sleeping and sneaks out while hiding under sheep.
4th Island of Aeolus
Aeolus, god of the winds, gives Odysseus a bag of bad winds to help him get home safely. His crew disobey orders and open the bag.
5th Laestrygonians
Odysseus and his men came upon the Laesrygonian city of Telepylus. The Laesrygonians were a race of powerful cannibal giants, ruled by their king, Antiphates. Odysseus sent some scouts out to see what kind of peoples lived there. Antiphates and his unnamed queen made those scouts into dinner. Once Odysseus and his crew see this, they flee back towards their ships, but the Laesrygonians pelt them with rocks and boulders and sink all of the boats but Odyssues' boat.
6th Island of Circe
Odysseus becomes Circe’s lover, and he and his men live with her in luxury for a year. When his men finally persuade him to continue the voyage homeward.
7th Land of The Dead
Odysseus visits Teiresias at the land of the dead and she gives him advice about the future. He also sees his mother there.
8th Island of Circe
Receives a warning about three obstacles he is about to face
