Who was there: those fighting in the war, Odysseus and his men
Odysseus' men respected him ,but his stunt with the Trojan horse angered Poseidon.
What you learn from this: that you have to thank those in charge (ie, the gods) or you may be punished
Who lived here: the cicone army
Odysseus was not respected, he told his men to hurry, but they disregarded him and took their time, and greedily enjoyed what the island had to enjoy
What you learn from this: if you let greed control you, you may end up losing more than you originally had (the men who lost their lives during the battle)
Who lived here: the lotus eaters
How Odysseus was treated: kindly since everyone was in a trance
What you learn from this: substance abuse can be deadly and overtake your life
Who lived here: the cyclops
Odysseus was respected by his men, but the cyclops had no fear or respect for him.
What you learn from this: look before you leap. Invading an unknown area can be dangerous
Who lived here: god of the winds,Aeolus
Aeolus helped Odysseus greatly by giving him the bag of good winds, but his men did not treat hum so well, when they went behind his back and opened the bag of bad winds.
What you learned from this: that going behind someone's back to get information, or secretly going through other peoples things will result in loss of trust and will often give you the opposite of what you needed.
Who lives here: circe, and all her servants
How Odysseus is treated: circe tricks him and his men, takes advantage of him
What you learn from this: don't fall into temptation
Who lived here: the sirens
How Odysseus was treated: the sirens tried to take his ship off course by distracting him and his men
What you learn from this: similar to Circe, to resist temptation and keep yourself from doing things that won't help you.
Who lived here: the Scylla and the Charybdis
How was Odysseus treated: poorly since he had to make a decision that no matter what would possibly sacrifice himself and his men.
What you learn from this: there isn't always an easy way out. Sometime you have to make compromises to get what you want.
Who lived here: hades, he sees his mother, some of his dead men.
How was Odysseus treated: he was forced to find out about his mothers death, and had no time to talk to her or console with her, and his men that had died.
What do you learn from this: never forget the ones you love
Who lived here: calypso
How was Odysseus treated: he was taken advantage of by calypso, saved by Zeus
What you learn from this: don't let temptation distract you from your final goal
Who lived here: Poseidon, king alcinous, his men
How he was treated: Poseidon destroyed hi ship, but the king gave him a new ship and a way home.
What you learned: it's important to be selfless, and help others like the king did.
Who lived there: Penelope, Telemachus, whole family, servers, dog, the suitors
How he was treated: his son did not believe him and neither did Penelope, but after they realize it's him they open him with open arms. The suitors however, try to kill him, but fail.
What you learned: no matter how kong you're gone, your loved ones will never abandon you.
