PLANNING PROCESS

  • Concerns: Being a senior in high school makes time for a ton of decisions and tons of things to plan for. I'm planning to move into a college dorm.
  • Goal: Money is what's on all college students mind. I need to save money for everything that i'll need while i'm there. I gotta save enough money for these items before I move onto campus.
  • Plan: Putting away 100 dollars from every paycheck to save up for items & any other expenses i'll need.
  • ACT: I'll be saving from my paychecks until August, purchase the items, and be all set by move-in day.
  • Follow Up: Well the big day hasn't came yet. But when it rolls around i'll have a respectable amount for everything I need.

Event and Date

  • I plan on going to Western Michigan University. I need to prepare for my dorm room life on campus by getting all the items that i'll need. Move-in day is late August.

Financial Situation

  • I currrently work at Chuck E. Cheese's as a game attendant. I make about 225-250 every check. (paid every two weeks)
  • Smart goal: Save 100 dollars off of every check and put away only for college expenses.
  • I'm gonna need dishware. Of course, i'd want nice glass plates and cups. But plastic will be the best option. But choosing cheaping items that do same, i'll save money for any other items.
  • I'm a very organized person. So other items to help me stay that way will be purchased also.
  • It is and will continue to be difficult to save 100 dollars every paycheck because I can't spend my money freely. But I know it'll help big time in the long run.

Event Plan

  • Before I head off to college, there are plenty of items I need to purchase before moving in. Like Dishware, silverware, lamp, bedding, etc. Those are just a few items that I plan to bring. Saving this money will help me out big time. But buying the generic items instead of Name brand saves so much money. When it comes to college, it's about what you NEED, NOT WANT!

Reflection

  • From this project, I look at the college life a lot differently. Not in a bad way, just different. I need to start to realize that i'll be on my own and I got a lot ahead of me. I figured out some of the things i'll need for college and what they'll cost me. I do have an amount estamate that i'll need. Really showed me the importance of saving money, and I want to make that a habit. This project also got me pretty excited for college and everything that i'm going to experience. Can't wait for the next chapter of my life!
