Saint of the day: St.Christina of Tyre
St. Christina of Tyre lived during the 3rd century. She was born into a rich family, her father being the governor of Tyre. She grew to become a beautiful girl with many suitors. Her father, however, wanted her to become a pagan priestess so she was placed in a special room wherein many gold and silver idols had been set up. Through her faith in the true God she smashed all the idols. Her father went into a rage and had her severely beaten and placed in prison. Christina remained strong in her faith. She was to be executed but God protected her she was left unharmed from the execution.
Later on, she would survive several more efforts to execute her; she even outlived her father who passed in his sleep. Christina was unyielding in her faith in God and she was able to convert hundreds of people to the true faith in Christ. Eventually a different governor was sent in place of her father and still she was left alive and unharmed. Through this miracle, many more came to believe in the Lord, our God. Finally she was executed and was declared a saint who died for her faith.
