WHERE DOES THE U.S. GET OIL FROM?

  • We get oil from Canada, Saudia Arabia,
  • Venezuela, Mexico, and Iraq. We also
  • Produce a large amount of oil ourselves.

HOW IS OIL PRODUCED?

  • Oil companies hire geologists to
  • Locate spots that may contain oil. The oil
  • Companies will go in and test drill the locations.
  • If they find oil they, set up a rig to start pumping oil.
  • Then they barrel it up and ship it to refineries.

The five largest oil producing countries are Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United States, Iran, and China.

HOW MUCH OIL DO WE MAKE?

  • The united states produces 4.9
  • Million barrels of oil a day. In one
  • Year it amounts to almost 2 billion barrels
  • Of crude oil.

  • We import about 9.8 million barrels of
  • Oil per day. In a year we consume about 3.5
  • Billion barrels of oil.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF OIL

  • If crude oil is spilled while drilling or being shipped
  • and gets in the water supply it can harm
  • Alot of wild life or the environment around it.
  • If oil is burned, the exhaust causes air pollution.
