Before we start the presentation we just want to let you 7 year olds know dinosaurs are dead and you can't have one for Christmas or your birthday...

How oil is created:
Oil is created when an organism from millions of years ago dies and their bones get pressurized by the earth and thousands of years later it turns into oil

How it works:
When crude oil(unrefined oil) is burned it can be used to do different things or create different things like boiling water or creating fuel for cars.
Oil is also transformed to electrical energy by turning turbines which boiled water which was heated by burned oil.

THE HISTORY OIL:
EDWIN L. DRAKE DISCOVERED OIL IN TITUSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA IN AUGUST 28, 1859

Uses of Oil:
Oil is most commonly used as fuel for transportation but it is also used at factory's for reducing friction between moving parts of machinery

ENERGY TRANSFORMATIONS:

  • Chemical-Mechanical: A car cannot run without fuel.
  • Chemical-Thermal: Oil is used to give off heat in a heater; such as an oil heater.
  • Chemical-Radiant/Thermal: An Oil powered Lantern gives off light and heat.

Effects on Environment:
Oil energy burns into the air and making our environment polluted...AND THATS BAD

Pros and Cons:
Pro-Oil create a lot of jobs for people
Pro-No other energy source can move cars with greater speeds at longer distances than oil
Con-Oil is non renewable so it will eventually run out
Con-Burning oil pollutes the atmosphere by releasing CO2 and other toxins

If we didn't have oil we would not have as much pollution but we would lose some objects that we use every day such as cars...it might have not changed us not having cars but we would not have it earlier.
