WHERE HE WAS FIRST A SLAVE

  • He was a slave in west Africa for a short time
  • He was parted from his sister
  • His slave life wasn't that bad while in Africa
  • He liked a couple of the people that owned him
  • They treated him nicely

WHY HE WAS FORCED INTO SLAVERY

  • People wanted slaves back then
  • So people would kidnap people living in Africa
  • Then they would sell the Africans to anyone who would buy them

HE WAS BROUGHT ON A SLAVE SHIP

  • He wanted to die on the ship
  • Life was terrible on the ship and he was beaten
  • He thought the people on the ship were ghosts and would kill him
  • Eventually made it to Barbados on the ship

FIRST FACT

  • British military officer bought him and made him fight in the navy
  • He was a seaman for 7 years and gained skills as a seaman
  • I believe this helped olaudah for the future because it helped him later in life
  • It helped him gain useful skills and educated him on stuff.

SECOND FACT

  • Quaker merchant bought him next
  • He worked his owners store and made money off it to buy his freedom
  • I think this was a good thing that happened to olaudah
  • He had it easy because all he really had to do was run the store
  • He wasn't really hurt by his owner, and he made enough money to be a free man

THIRD FACT

  • Now he was a free man and led exciting expeditions as a sailor
  • Then he settled in England and worked as a musician and baber.
  • I believe this is a good thing because he is free now
  • He got to have a good life even though he was slave at first

FOURTH FACT

  • In 1789 his autobiography was published
  • This is a good thing I believe because it showed the hardships he went through
  • This also got his story out and showed people how slavery was bad
  • It could've helped end slavery sooner
