PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE NAME OF MY CELL IS THE OLIGODENDROCYTE

THIS IS WHAT MY CELL LOOKS LIKE

MAIN FEATURES

  • Some main organelles are:
  • Nucleus
  • Mitochondrion
  • Neurofibrils

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • One main function of a oligodendrocyte cell is to provide trophic and functional support.
  • Another main function is to form the insulation of the long projections of neurons.
  • Also one of its main function is to allow fast nerve signal conduction.

HOW THE FUNCTIONS WORK

  • These cells make trophic and functional support and form insulation of the long projections of neutrons by creating myelin sheath which is made up of 80% lipids and 20% protein.
  • These cells allow fast nerve signal conduction by extending part of its membrane to the axon and twists around.

HOW THE SHAPE HELPS PERFORM THE JOB

  • The shape helps perform the job by being flexible and bendy to stretch to be able to connect to axons

WHAT ORGAN IS THE CELL FOUND IN

  • This cell is mostly found in the organ named the brain.

WHAT ORGAN SYSTEM IS THE CELL FOUND IN

  • The cell is found in the central nervous system.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Oligodendrocytes are in both vertebrates and invertebrates
  • They have neuroglia that are equivalent to the which are called Schwann cells.
