THE OLIVE-BRANCH PETITION
Adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 5, 1775.
On July 8, it was submitted to King George III, who was the kings of England during the American Revolution
It was written by John Dickinson, a politician and solicitor from Philadelphia.
It was an attempt by colonists to have rights without going to war with Britain.
King George refused to read it, because he thought the colonists would come to rebel.
