The Olmec were the first successful Mesoamerican society. They prospered along Mexico's Gulf Coast, from around 1200-1400 B.C.

The Olmec were wonderful artists and also traders, who dominated in ancient Mesoamerica.

The Olmec had a rich culture. Most of the Olmec worked in fields farming crops or fished in rivers.

Near 400 B.C. the great Olmec city of La Venta went into decline, bringing the famous Olmec Civilization with it.

My reaction
I was shocked because of all the advances they made in that time period, and the way they affected life today in many places.
