- ONAM is a tradional festival celebrated in Indian state-Kerala.
- It is a 10 day harvest festival that marks the Homecoming of the mythical king Mahabali.
- The most spectacular celebrations take place in kochi,Thivandrum,Thrissur and kottayam.

KING MAHABALI
- King Mahabali is also popularly called Maveli and Onathappan. The story goes that the beautiful state of Kerala was once ruled by an Asura (demon).
- He was the grandson of Prahlad.
- king mahabali was greatly respected in his kingdom. he was considered to be wise, judicious and extremely generous. During the reign of king mahabali,everybody was happy in the kingdom.
- Lord Vishnu was moved by the Kings nobility and was pleased to grant the wish. Lord Vishnu blessed the King saying that even after losing all his worldly possessions, he would always be loved by Lord Vishnu and his people.

- The last day, Thiruvonam is the biggest and the most important day of this festival. It is believed that King Mahabali visits his people in Kerala.
