GOLD

  • Settlers would come to pikespeak colorado to find gold and become rich
  • They made many of the towns with gold become boomtowns
  • Gold was the first material that settlers mined

BOOMTOWNS

  • Boomtowns were made by settlers mining all the gold and silver
  • They made towns like these become no longer a large populational city
  • They were then made as populated cities because settlers founded silver

SILVER

  • Silver was a material settlers mined
  • Settlers would go mine these after gold was all mined from a area
  • Silver was one of the six materials founded by settlers

CATTLE = MONEY

  • Cattle was money to ranchers living in the west
  • At one point in time the amount was 40$ a head in the herd
  • Soon all the cattle that were in the west collapsed when ranchers tried to get alot of cattle for money

WHEN CATTLE TURNS TO FARMING

  • Once the cattle kingdom collapsed settlers started farming
  • They grew crops for survival and money
  • They used a method called dry farming
  • Dry farming-A type of farming practiced in arid areas without irrigation by planting drought-resistant crops
