VETERAN'S DAY

  • A holiday annually celebrated on November 11th that signifies the end of WW1.
  • Celebrates all U.S. Veteran's services.

21 GUN SALUTE

  • 7 soldiers shoot 3 shots each out of their guns.
  • Most commonly used at military funerals
  • Established as a naval tradition in the late 1600s.

MEMORIAL BRACELET

  • A cuff style bracelet with a persons name who died or an event engraved on it.
  • Worn to show support and to remember a hero or victim of terrorism.

ROOF STOMP

  • Tradition in the Air Force where service members climb on the roof of a commander and stomp.
  • It's typically planned, and not a surprise for the commander.
  • It celebrates a new commander, a retirement, or other event.

RIDERLESS HORSE

  • A Riderless Horse is a horse without anybody mounted on it, that is present at the funeral procession.
  • Can be featured in military parades or to symbolize fallen soldiers.

MEDAL OF HONOR

  • The highest military honor you can recieve
  • Awarded for acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty.
  • Originally called the "Medal of Valor"
  • Awarded by the President of the United States

PEACE MONUMENT

  • Made to honor the naval deaths at sea from the Civil War.
  • Also known as the Naval Monument or the Civil War Sailors Monument
  • Made in 1877-1878

VETERAN'S MEMORIAL WALL

  • Made to commemorate more than 1,500 Jackson area war heroes.
  • The "only wall that honors veterans from all six branches.
  • Has names of men and women from World War 1 from Operation Desert Storm
