OPERATION PEDRO PAN ORIGINATED FROM A BOY NAMED PEDRO, WHO ARRIVED IN MIAMI TO LIVE WITH RELATIVES.
THEY WERE IN DIRE NEED OF MONEY, SO THEY REQUESTED A FOSTER FAMILY FOR PEDRO.

EVER SINCE THEN, FATHER WALSH, A PRIEST, CALLED THOSE WHO CAME FROM CUBA AS A FUGITIVE TO MIAMI, "PEDROS."

Many families were seperated due to the cause of declined exit visas, which allowed cuban's to flee.flights from Cuba to the U.S ceased after the missile crisis in 1965. This event began a 3 year period which travel was only through 3rd countriees.
Freedom Flights began in December 1, 1965 , these flights were made twice a day.
