Body
Orangutans are mammals. Their bodies are 5 ft. long and they have long strong arms. Their bodies are covered in red, brown hair.

Habitat
They live on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in south east Asia. They sleep in nests high in the trees. They build covered nests to stay dry.

Food
Orangutans eat mangoes, figs, tree bark and insects. They have strong teeth to chew. They eat 400 different kind of food in the wild.

Life Cycle
They live about 35 years in the wild. They give birth to one infant at a time.

Fun Facts
Their name means "person of the forest."

Endangered
They are endangered because people are cutting down the trees. People are killing the moms and taking babies to circuses and zoos.
