2.
Cell Theory
Cells make up all life.
Cells split into an exact replica of themselves to make new ones.
Cells have homeostasis.
3.
Organelles
Organelles are a specialized part of a cell having some specific function; a cell organ.
4.
Cell Wall
The cell wall surrounds the cell membrane.
The cell wall is a very tough, flexible and sometimes fairly rigid layer that surrounds some types of cells.
5.
Cell Membrane
A cell membrane is like a cell's gatekeeper. It's the outer layer that surrounds a cell, letting substances in — or keeping them out.
It controls the movement of substances in and out of cells.
The basic function of the cell membrane is to protect the cell from its surroundings.
6.
Vacuoles
Vacuoles act like the brain of a cell.
All plant and animal cells have vacuoles.
Vacuoles are much larger in plant cells.
7.
Cytoplasm
Cytoplasm is the fluid that fills a cell.
Scientists used to call the fluid protoplasm.
8.
Nucleus
Nucleus acts like the brain of the cell.
It helps control eating, movement, and reproduction.
9.
Chloroplasts
Chloroplasts help make food for the cell.
