ORGANIC FARMING

  • Organic farmers do not use the same methods as intensive farmers.
  • They try to produce smaller amounts of healthy good quality food.
  • Their approach does not make great use of artificial chemicals

ADVANTAGES

  • They is no need for artificial chemicals to be used
  • There are no chemicals to escape into the environment and damage it
  • Chemicals often need to be refused, but biological control doesn't usually repeat

DISADVANTAGES

  • The predator may not eat the pest
  • The predator may eat other useful species
  • The predator may increase the number snd come out of control

DEALING WITH PESTS

  • They use a technique called biological control
  • They introduce a natural predator for the pest, which will kill the pest
  • Organic farmers don't use pesticides like an intensive farmer does
  • This is a much better way
