Similes, Metaphors, & Descriptive Writing

(and why you need to use them)

Simile : compares 2 things using 'like' or 'as'
For example :
The drops of rain felt like small kisses on my face.

Metaphor : compares 2 different things saying they are the same and uses 'is', 'are', 'was', or 'were'
For example :
Your love is an ocean.

OR
The Earth-ferry was magnificent, three times as big as our beat-up old Moon-ferries with their huge cargo holds and dingy cramped passenger quarters.

(sound familiar?...)

so How would your senses be engaged in this setting?

How can you show (not tell) what you would experience here?

What about here?

What are some Similes you could use to describe this place?

What are some examples of similes, metaphors, and descriptive writing that Kepler used in his narrative, 'Good-bye to the Moon'?
