OROGRAPHIC EFFECT

HOW MOUNTAINS EFFECT WEATHER ON COASTLINES

Moist air rises up one side of a mountain then cools off and rains or snows. Dry air flows down the other side.

The orographic effect happens on mountains near large lakes or oceans.
