OUR LADY OF GUADELUPE

SIGHTING

• On December 9, 1531, Mary appeared to Juan Diego.
• Juan was traveling to mass near Tepeyac hill, when he heard chirping birds and beautiful noises.
• He was wondering where it was coming from, and wanted to know its meaning.
• He heard a voice calling him and there appeared the ever virgin mother of God.

THE MESSAGE

• Marry told Juan that their is a shrine to be built.
• Juan went to his Bishop (Juan de Zumarraga) to deliver the message.
• The Bishop ignored him and did not take it seriously.
• After this, she would appear to him two more times with the same message.
• The Bishop asked for a sign.

THE MESSAGE

• Mary gave Juan a message the following morning on December 12.
• Juan was to gather fresh roses for the sign
• Mary arranged the flowers and created a miracle on Juan's cloak.
• It was a picture as she appeared on the hill.
