-Reproductive system

-Produces both the female hormones that control reproduction and female gametes.

A small gland about the size of an almond, located on opposite sides of the uterus in the pelvic cavity and attached to the uterus by the ovarian ligament.

Produces female hormones
- Estrogen
-Progesterone

The ovaries are located on the left and right sides of the uterus and inferior to the Fallopian tubes.

PROBLEMS

  • Failure to produce muture eggs
  • Follicle problems
  • Premature menopause
  • Scarred ovaries

Behavior Factors: Alcohol- increases the risk of birth for woman. If high levels in the mothers blood, may cause Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
