THE CONTENT OF THE OLD TESTAMENT

  • The Old Testament contains four main sections: the Pentateuch, the Former Prophets (or Historical Books), the Writings, and the Latter Prophets. T
  • The Old Testament is a collection of thirty-nine books about the history and religion of the people of Israel.
  • They include stories, laws, and sayings that are intended to function as models of religious and ethical conduct.

THE FOUR CATEGORIES THAT THE OLD TESTAMENT IS DIVIDED IN

The Torah, The History Books, The Poetical Books (the Writings) and The Prophets

WHY IS THE NEW TESTAMENT CALLED "NEW"

  • It is called the New Testament because it was written after the Old Testament
  • It tells of a New Testament which means covenant or agreement between God and man

  • The Gospels-The first four books of the New Testament
  • The History Book-The fifth book of the New Testament
  • The Epistles (or Letters)-A total of 21 books
