The Transantarctic Mountains stretch for more than 2,000 miles.

Transantartic basement rocks, similar to rocks found in Australia.
Transantarctic Mountains cross the continent, dividing the ice sheet into two parts.

LUZON STRAIT
The Luzon strait extends for more than 200 miles.
The Luzon strait is on a main shipping route.
The Luzon strait connects the South China Sea with the Philippine sea.
The Luzon Strait was part of the Japanese invasion route in December 1941
