How can technology impede intelligence? This essential question corresponds with my book Fahrenheit 451. Technology is a very helpful tool, but it can be relied on too much. With technology being relied on too much a persons intelligence may decrease or not be as good as another's from the start.

At Colombia University a study was done and interesting data was gathered. The study discovered that using a search bank like google is "making us better at remembering how and where to find information..." but persons are not learning s retaining the information for themselves but just remember we're to find the information. The Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience published a study in 2012 releasing data found that GPS and apps that make driving easier make more likely for our brains to take a break and not really know where you are going. The research also revealed that a persons brain has a certain amount of space for understanding information.

Our grammar and spelling is getting worse. With people relying on autocorrect to catch their mistakes people are less aware of their own. With the comparison of paper versus screen a study was done by University of Stavanger and had two groups read a short story. One group reading a print of it on paper and the other group on a kindle. The research and data found that the group reading on the tablet recollected less than the group that read the short story on paper.
