Deforestation is the removal of trees from an area so the land can be used in other ways.

Each year around 78 million acres of forest are destroyed due to deforestation.

Since so many trees get cut down each year I decided to plant my own.

I know this is a small step but hopefully it will motivate people to plant more trees.

I found the sapling for my tree in the woods behind my house.

I dug up the sapling and took it to where I was planting it.

Then I dug a hole to put it in and I planted my tree.
