ALBINISM
- Also called achromasia
- A group of inherited disorders characterized by little or no melanin
- This disease or mutation really doesnt have much to do with the skin as many people think

CHROMOSOMES
- There are many chromosomes involved with albinism not one gene is involved
- The one chromosome that is named is called Melanocytes and there is no exact number
EFFECTS ON PERSON
- Rapid involuntary movement
- Lazy eye
- Underdeveloped nerve in eye
- Sensitivity in vision
TREATMENTS
- Sunscreen
- Protective clothing
- Corrrective lenses
TESTS
- To find out if a fetus in a mother's womb will have albinism there is a needle placed into the uterus to draw out fluid which is called Amniocentesis
- CVS chorionic vilous sampling is anither way of testing
LIFE EXPECTANCY
- Albinism doesnt usually affect the life span of someone who has it
INHERITANCE PATTERN
- The pattern is known as Autosomal Recessive
- Which means both copies of the gene in cell have mutations
