PRESENTATION OUTLINE

INFLUENZA

WHAT IS THE FLU? HOW DOES IT AFFECT US? LETS FIND OUT...

BASIC FACTS

  • Flu is the short term for influenza.
  • Flu season is from October to May.
  • It can affect the respiratory system, digestive system and the immune system
  • Out of people, kids get caught in the flu most often
  • There are three types of flu (type A, B, And C)

TYPE A FLU
It is the most common type of flu. Constantly changing every year, in charge of large flu spreads and diseases such as H1N1. Can spread when already infected.

TYPE B FLU
Found only on humans, but mostly children. Not as common or gentle and wide spreading as Type A.

Let

TYPE C FLU
Also only found in humans, but really rare. It is really mild and may cause illness, but rarely infects people.

HOW THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM IS INFECTED

  • Our respiratory system includes our nose, throat, bronchial tubes, and lungs
  • Flu can harm our respiratory system with symptoms such as continuously coughing, difficulties breathing, a sore throat, fever, or running nose.
If you have been wondering what the respiratory system is from the beginning. I will now untie that knot. The respiratory system includes our nose, throat, bronchial tubes ( where oxygen goes to your lungs), and your lungs. The flu may cause us to cough, sneeze, having a sore throat, a fever, difficulties breathing, and a running nose

HOW THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM IS INFECTED

  • Because of the affects of your respiratory system can affect your digestive system, such as pain when swallowing, and not having the desire to eat.
  • Stomach flu: there can be vomiting from one to ten days, feeling tired, and muscle aches.

IMMUNE SYSTEM

  • Your thymus produces T cells that can fight bacteria and viruses such as influenza.
  • Your T cells cue the hypothalamus in your brain to level your body temperature, which is why fevers might occur.

EXTRA FACTS

  • Flu is seasonal, you might notice a lot of people around you sick at the same time.
  • If the flu continues to develop into our lungs, it can turn into pneumonia.
  • Flu and cold are different, they are caused by different viruses, so a cold can't turn into a flu, or vice versa.

Ways to prevent the flu, avoid the flu, and what to do if you caught it.

Drink lots of water.
Get plenty of sleep.
Avoid contact with anyone that has the flu or cold.
Wash your hands often.
Use some medicine.

It is important that we know what to do when we catch the flu, and how to protect ourselves.
Drink lots of water, bring a water bottle with you.
I'm gonna do a survey. raise your hands if you sleep after eight, nine, ten, ten thirty, eleven, twelve.....keep on going until hands lessen. Ok, I see where this is going. Hands down, it is really important for you to get plenty of sleep when flu took over you. Avoid close contact with anyone else that is infected, so it's a good idea to stay home and rest instead of going to school or work.
Wash your hands to keep the germs away.
Use some medicine when the flu is getting strong.
