He was born Feb 7,1885 in Minnesota and had 2 siblings
His father was strict on him growing up so he turned to reading and keeping a diary
He graduated from yale in 1907
after having a little trouble finding consistent work he found a position for editor with a newspaper company.
this was shortly before he published his first novel Our Mr. Wrenn
at the same time he was working for the saturday evening post and the cosmopolitan
He never lost sight on being a full time author and he began writing his most famous work Main Street
this book looks at the life struggles of small town girl Carol Milford
He later published It Cant Happen Here which was about the election of a fascist to American presidency
After his writing career was over he turned to the drink and got divorced twice before passing away January 10,1951

His greatest works were Main Street and It can’t happen here. He won a nobel prize off of 5 works combined, they are as follows Main Street, Babbitt, Arrowsmith, Elmer Gantry, and Dodsworth.

my thoughts on mr lewis and his work are that the man knew how to write plain and simple. purely because reading and writing was his escape ever since a young age
