Scanning Your Written Work

Using a Scanner

First, get your pages in the correct order and oriented properly
(no sideways or upside-downs pages.)

If you use a pencil, make sure it is dark enough to read.

Step 1:
Scanning

Scan pages to a single file. Use scan settings PDF format and 200 dpi resolution.

Remember to use the setting allowing you to make a single file.

Take good, readable scans of all your entire document (all pages)
in the correct order.

Step 2:
Name your file.

If the scanner has the option to name your file, name using the format:
SmithJohn_Homework1

Step 3:
Email the File

Email your scan to yourself or send it to another location you normally use.

If you have not already done so, name your file using the format:
SmithJohn_Homework1

Step 4:
Upload to Blackboard

Now you are ready to upload your file in Blackboard. (Instructions are in Blackboard.)

You will need to install a scanner app on your device. Genius Scan is an easy one to use.

Follow the app tutorial to get your pages into a single low-resolution PDF file.

Take good, readable scans of all your entire document (all pages)
in the correct order.

Look at your file and make sure all pages are oriented properly and is easily readable.

Name your file.

Email your scan to yourself or send it to another location you normally use.

Now upload your file to Blackboard.
